Nightlife on Pantelleria, the volcanic island between Sicily and Tunisia, is not a club scene. There are no discos worth the name and nothing that runs till dawn except a couple of harbour bars. What the island does instead is the sunset aperitivo — a long, slow drink facing Africa — followed by dinner and a nightcap in a piazza. Learn to like that rhythm and the evenings here are hard to beat.
The venues below are grouped by where they are: the harbour town, the Scauri side, and the east coast around Tracino and Khamma. Addresses and phone numbers were verified in July 2026 from each venue’s own site, social pages or public listing.
Bars and evening spots
- In town: Tikirriki Bar, Alchimia Café, Caffè Aurora
- West coast: Lido Shurhuq, Sesiventi
- Scauri: Tanit Lounge Bar, Kaya Kaya, Curnutazzi
- East coast: Bar Beluga, Cicci’s Bar and Cicci’s Bistrot
Where do you go for the sunset aperitivo?
The west coast, because that is where the sun goes down over the Tunisian horizon. Sesiventi and Lido Shurhuq are the two names locals give first, both facing west; on the Scauri side, Tanit, Kaya Kaya and Curnutazzi all look out over the little port. Book ahead in August — the good tables go early, and some places take reservations only.
An aperitivo here usually means a drink with a tray of island food rather than a buffet: capers, tuma cheese, fried things, sometimes a small plate of Pantelleria capers straight from the salt. Order the island’s own wine and you will be drinking Zibibbo; the sweet Passito comes after dinner, not before.
Tikirriki Bar
The harbour bar that never seems to close. Tikirriki opens at 5:30 in the morning for the fishermen and the early ferry, and runs to 1:30am on weeknights and 3am at weekends — which makes it both the first coffee and the last drink of most people’s day in town. Espresso bar by morning, cocktails and a crowd of locals, yacht crews and travellers by night.

Alchimia Café
A few doors along the same street, Alchimia works the full day: breakfast from 7am, lunch, aperitivo and drinks until 3am, every day of the week. It bills itself as bar and kitchen both, which is convenient when you want everything in one place near the harbour — though reviews are mixed on the food side, so treat it as a bar that also feeds you rather than a restaurant.

Caffè Aurora
The town’s classic café, on the same harbour-front street as the other two. This is a morning place above all — cappuccino and pastries at the counter, the local newspaper, and a decent chance of ending up at a table beside somebody who owns half the caper terraces on the island.
Pair it with a stop at Panificio Mangiaforte if you want to eat your breakfast walking.

Lido Shurhuq
A beach club on the lava point at Località Suvaki on the west coast, and one of the few places on Pantelleria where you can spend the whole day and stay for the evening. Sea access, restaurant, aperitivo and wine bar, open from 8am to 1am — you swim, you eat, you watch the sun go down, and nobody moves you along.
It sits close to the west-coast hotels, so it is walkable for some guests and a short drive for everyone else. The South-West Line passes nearby in season.

Sesiventi
The island’s best-known sunset address, and the one most locals name first. Sesiventi is a dammuso with eight white domes in the Mursia area, inside the archaeological park of the Sesi, positioned to look straight at the Tunisian coast as the light goes. Aperitivo is served on wooden trays brought to your seat — a land version or a sea version — with island and Italian wines alongside.
Booking is compulsory, and in July and August that means days rather than hours ahead. Combine it with a morning at Cala Tramontana or a walk on the Montagna Grande Trail and you have a full day.

Tanit Lounge Bar
On the port at Scauri, on the island’s south-west shoulder, named after the Carthaginian moon goddess once worshipped on Pantelleria. It is a cocktail-and-sunset place: the port faces west, the light is good, and the evening drifts on from aperitivo into after-dinner without any obvious break.
Scauri is also where you find Altamarea and, a short drive up the hill, La Nicchia, so it is easy to build a whole evening on this side.

Kaya Kaya
A small beach bar a few steps from the water in Scauri’s harbour, run by the Altamarea restaurant. Aperitivo here is the unfussy kind: you order at the counter and get a drink with a little tray of street food. Minimal, relaxed, and the closest thing on the island to simply sitting on the rocks with something cold.

Curnutazzi
A cocktail bar with a terrace over the port at Scauri, and the third of the trio on this side of the island. Good for a long evening rather than a quick drink: it works from aperitivo hour through to after dinner, with themed aperitivo nights in season.

Bar Beluga
The village bar of Tracino, on Piazza Perugia at the top of the east coast’s prettiest corner. It opens early and closes very late, and functions as breakfast counter, mid-afternoon granita stop and evening aperitivo for everyone staying on this side. There is seating indoors and out, and no pretension whatsoever.
It is the natural stop after a swim at the Arco dell’Elefante or the warm shallows at Cala Nikà. The East Coast Line serves Tracino.

Cicci’s Bar and Cicci’s Bistrot
Two different places, often confused. Cicci’s Bar is in the town centre on Via Cagliari, a plain neighbourhood bar of the useful sort. Cicci’s Bistrot is out at Bue Marino on the north-east coast, run by Maurizio and Rita, and is the one people mean when they talk about a long lunch or a drink by the water.
The Bistrot has a seasonal rhythm, so check it is open before driving out — local reporting has noted it reopening for the summer in past years rather than running year-round.

How late does Pantelleria stay open?
Later than you would expect from an island this quiet. The harbour bars in town run to 1:30am on weeknights and 3am at weekends, and Bar Beluga in Tracino keeps similar hours. What you will not find is a nightclub: the island has no real club scene, and the late hours belong to bars, terraces and piazzas.
Everything thins out sharply outside summer. From November to April several venues close altogether and the rest cut their hours, so in shoulder season phone before you set off — particularly for anywhere outside the town.
Getting there and getting home
The buses stop early, so an evening out means driving or staying within walking distance. If you are based in the harbour town you can do the whole thing on foot — Tikirriki, Alchimia and Caffè Aurora are on the same street, and Blue Moon Hotel is a few minutes away.
Everywhere else, plan the return before the first drink. A scooter from Blue Pantelleria Scooter Rental covers the daytime but is a poor idea after an aperitivo, and the Lago Line and other routes do not run late. Nominate a driver, or stay somewhere you can walk home from — a dammuso up a lava lane is glorious by day and unlit at night.
Evenings that are not a bar
Some of the island’s better nights out involve no bar at all.
- A cellar at dusk. Donnafugata and Coste Ghirlanda both run evening visits and tastings in season, booked ahead.
- Cooking instead of drinking. Island Cooking Classes often run into the evening and end with dinner.
- On the water. Sunset trips such as the Nautilus Boat leave from the harbour, and dive centres like Pantelleria Divers run late-afternoon outings that finish at golden hour.
- Dinner in the countryside. Amuni, the restaurant of the agriturismo Parco dei Sesi, is open to the public: aperitivi on Mondays and Fridays, pizza from the wood oven on Sundays in season. Book ahead — see our restaurants guide.
- Stars over the lava. Drive up to Balata dei Turchi or any unlit stretch of the perimeter road. There is almost no light pollution here.
Pantelleria nightlife: questions answered
No. Pantelleria has no real club scene. Evenings revolve around the sunset aperitivo, dinner, and a drink in a bar or on a terrace. The harbour bars in town stay open until 1:30am on weeknights and 3am at weekends, which is as late as the island gets.
The west coast, facing the Tunisian horizon. Sesiventi in Contrada Mursia is the name locals give first, with aperitivo served on trays and booking compulsory. Lido Shurhuq at Suvaki is the other west-facing option. On the Scauri side, Tanit, Kaya Kaya and Curnutazzi all overlook the port.
For the sunset venues, yes. Sesiventi takes reservations only, and in July and August you should book days rather than hours ahead. Town bars like Tikirriki and Alchimia take walk-ins. Outside summer, phone before travelling anywhere out of town, as several venues close.
Zibibbo, the island’s white grape, in its dry form before dinner. The sweet Passito di Pantelleria is a dessert wine and comes after the meal, not as an aperitivo. Cocktails are widely available in the harbour and Scauri bars, and island capers turn up in the accompanying snacks.
Only within the harbour town, where the main bars sit on the same street and several hotels are minutes away. Buses stop in the early evening and do not run late, so anywhere else needs a car and a nominated driver. Rural lanes are unlit, which makes scooters a poor choice after dark.
